Project Scope

  • Tri-Level roof deck

  • Second story access

  • Aluminum Pergola

A skyline view like this practically requires a roof deck. Two years earlier, after remodeling the basement in this Graduate Hospital home we casually discussed a roof deck with the homeowner. A pitched roof and existing second floor access were initially seen as a deterrent to the project, but we love a challenge.

We removed and rebuilt the existing 100 sf second story deck adding stairs to the roof of the two story home. The upper decks total 320 sf with the split accounting for the roof pitch. The lower level is the perfect spot for dining with a view while the upper level serves as the lounge area.

This project was started before the pandemic shutdown and finished as soon as the construction was cleared to resume work. The timing couldn’t have been better for this young professional homeowner to work from home.
